Glitched Mix – 2026

One hour (or so) bursts of who knows what.

This is the rebirth of a music podcast that ran from Mid 2008 to early 2009 and which was greatly influenced by my old radio show on KSCU and my buddy Keith Krate (aka. KSCU’s Mr. Munchichi and music’s Bunkbed).

When I first started working on this the 5 year anniversary of Keith’s death was approaching so I thought it would be nice to convert this from a one-off mix into a podcast and then make a couple episodes to celebrate his music and the influence he had on me.

So those became episodes 1 and 2 and my original mix became episode 3.

The original plan was to launch on the 5 year anniversary of his death (September 21) but after some thought I determined that didn’t really want to focus on keith’s death so decided to emphasize his life and set the launch to land on his birthday instead.

That meant that I now had time to kill so once those first three episodes were in the bag I went back and digitized some of my old mix tapes and ripped some old mix cds and made episodes from those and they became episodes 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9.

and then feature creep rolled in when i realized you can embed album art and chapters into these audio files (tragically most players seem to have removed that function but you can still see them in Safari when you play the files there).

and then i realized that a lot had happened before I ever started doing radio or mixtapes… so i did a decade for the 60s, 70s, and 80s (episodes 10, 11, 12)

and then i realized that a lot had happened in the years between mixes so wanted to do a mix for each year between the mix tapes / cds and the present day (episodes 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19)

and then i launched it on July 15, 2008 to celebrate what would have been Keith’s 37th birthday.

After 14 additional episodes (a total of 32) life caught up with me and no new episodes were ever completed.

Right around that time I went back to KSCU after an 18 year hiatus and started podcasting the radio show instead. 3 or 4 hours most weeks. If you have any interest in that please subscribe at https://grimacekscu.com/podcast.rss

Because I am a huge fan of symmetry and parallelism, today, 18 years after that original launch and on what would have been Keith’s 55th birthday, I’m bringing the Glitched Mix back.

It’s been nearly 24 years since Keith died and I still love listening to his music and hopefully this inspires some of y’all to investigate further. Both Bunkbed albums are up on Apple Music and Spotify, etc.

So that’s the story of the Glitched Mix.

A one hour (or so) burst of who knows what. In case you missed it the first time around.
